Emmerdale’s Vinny Dingle was left speechless when a prosecution barrister paid him a visit on Tuesday

Emmerdale fans are only just realising where they’ve seen Vinny Dingle’s lawyer before.

Fans of the ITV soap will be aware that Vinny (Bradley Johnson) has been privately grappling with his sexuality in recent scenes. He subsequently reached out to a man named Mike (Macaulay Cooper), who claimed he was facing a similar predicament.

However, it soon transpired that Mike had tricked Vinny in a bid to extract money from him. After arranging a meeting at Dale View, Mike attacked Vinny and demanded a transfer of £10,000 into his bank account.

Despite initially blaming the attack on his friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), Vinny eventually plucked up the courage to report the incident to the police, all while keeping it under wraps from his new wife Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), reports the Daily Star.

Vinny has since agreed to give evidence in court against Mike, whose real name was revealed to be Graham Connelly.

On Tuesday (30 September), a prosecution barrister named Tamara Longford arrived at Dale View to inform Vinny that the defence intended to call Gabby as a witness in the case.

“Gabby’s got nothing to do with the case,” an exasperated Vinny retorted, with Tamara responding: “They’re saying she has relevant information, but it’s mainly to stop you taking the stand.”

She went on to say: “We see this sort of shady tactic all the time,” before Vinny added: “The one thing I wanted was to keep Gabby out of this. She can’t find out, alright?”

Tamara expressed her understanding of the challenges he faced, noting that the move was a positive sign as it indicated that the defence deemed Vinny’s testimony as “vital”.

Later in the episode, Gabby discovered Vinny’s court summons tucked away in a drawer, with her husband quickly fabricating a story about the case.

In a bid to keep Mike’s actions hidden from Gabby, Vinny chose to withdraw as a witness to safeguard his marriage.

Newcomer Tamara is portrayed by actress Chandrika Chevli, with several Emmerdale viewers only just recognising her from previous roles.

Over time, Chandrika has made guest appearances in a host of popular TV shows, including Unforgotten, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Inside No. 9, Holby City, The Bill and Not Going Out.

After seeing the actress on Emmerdale tonight, numerous soap fans have taken to social media to discuss her past roles.

“That prosecution lawyer looks familiar. Where have I seen her before?” one individual queried on a Facebook fan page.

Another chimed in: “I’m sure she was in an episode of Holby City years ago,” while a third remarked: “Yes and she was in Not Going Out. Loved that show.”

Meanwhile, a fourth fan shared: “I hope she comes back to convince Vinny to testify. Mike needs to go down for what he did.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
