An Emmerdale star is being tipped for a role on I’m A Celebrity following their soap exit

An Emmerdale star has had his new role ‘revealed’ following his departure from the Dales.

Oliver Farnworth joined the ITV soap last year as John Sugden, the long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby), and quickly stirred up a storm. This year, it was disclosed that John was behind the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) in September 2024.

In an attempt to hide his actions, John disposed of Nate’s body in a river, but when the body was found, he managed to pin the crime on an innocent person. However, in recent weeks, the truth about John’s crimes surfaced after a cliffside confrontation with husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

With everyone against him, John coerced Caleb Miligan (William Ash) into aiding his escape. If he refused, John threatened to inform the police about his wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) murdering Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), reports the Daily Star.

But it soon came to light that Nate’s father Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was part of a secret plan with Caleb and ambushed John, with Cain venting his fury for Nate’s death.

Now, with the truth finally out about John, the character’s exit could be imminent. Moreover, actor Oliver Farnworth is being tipped for a role in another soap. Betting firm Betway are convinced Oliver will make his way to Walford for a spell on BBC’s EastEnders, with odds standing at 12/1.

Before his Emmerdale role, Oliver featured in ITV’s Coronation Street as Andy Carver between 2014 and 2017. He also had a turn on Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2007 playing Will Hackett.

But that’s not all, as the bookmakers have set odds of 10/1 for Oliver to feature on the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

A theatre comeback could also be on the cards for Oliver, with odds at 3/1. Meanwhile, a role on a Netflix or Amazon production has been priced at 8/1.

Oliver isn’t the only Emmerdale actor rumoured to be jungle-bound for I’m A Celebrity. Reports recently emerged that Mandy Dingle actress Lisa Riley is being considered for the show.

An industry insider told The Sun: “Lisa is the perfect celebrity for the show because not only is she from a soap watched by millions she’s one of its biggest characters and it’s an ITV show to boot.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
