Anthony Boyle has opened up about the possibility of playing James Bond in the future, as he stars in the upcoming Netflix period drama House of Guinness
Belfast-born actor Anthony Boyle, known for his roles in Derry Girls, Shardlake, and Game of Thrones, as well as on stage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has spoken about the possibility of playing the next James Bond.
The 31-year-old star is set to appear alongside Louis Partridge in the upcoming Netflix period drama House of Guinness, penned by Steven Knight.
During an appearance on This Morning, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard asked Anthony about his interest in another of Knight’s projects, the new Bond film.
Anthony confessed: “We’re both trying to corner him any chance we can get.”

He joked that he’d “show up in a three-piece suit” to the premiere to impress Knight, but admitted that neither he nor Louis had managed to extract any information about the new film from its creator, reports the Irish Mirror.
“He’s kept his cards close to his chest,” Louis revealed.
This follows Anthony’s previous comment to Patrick Kielty, where he expressed his desire to see “A west Belfast bond, that’s what we want to see, yeah, but I think I would do better as a villain,” but suggested he might be better suited to a villainous role.
“A bond villain would be better craic,” he added.
While the identity of the next Bond remains a closely guarded secret, names such as Idris Elba, James Norton, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Henry Cavill have been mentioned as potential candidates.
Peaky Blinders showrunner Knight has hinted at bringing some of the grit and edge of his other projects to the new Bond film.
Speaking to Radio Times, he teased: “We’ll see, we’ll see… You don’t know what’s going to happen until you start writing.”
He also disclosed that he’s approaching the scriptwriting process without a lead actor in mind.
In a previous conversation, he expressed his excitement: “I can’t wait to get started. I’m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me, and I will be able to produce something that’s the same but different, and better, stronger, and bolder.”
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
