The Ivanhoe Hotel shared footage of the lightning strike on social media
This is the moment that a tree was destroyed when lightning struck in the car park of a South Belfast hotel.
The Ivanhoe Hotel on the Saintfield Road, Carryduff, experienced some technical difficulties on Saturday, September 13, after lightning struck a tree in its car park and caused some problems with its phone lines and internet.
The hotel released CCTV footage of the lightning strike on its social media, which shows it hitting a tree and causing it to explode.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported as a result of the lightning strike, although the tree was significantly damaged and the hotel was able to get its systems back up and running.
It said on social media: “We are very glad nobody was hurt and are working hard to get our systems up and running.”
The Ivanhoe Hotel is a 29 room hotel that also has a popular restaurant and Parlour Bar.
