Wheatus confirm 2026 Australian return and New Zealand debut – Backseat Mafia

by wellnessfitpro

Wheatus are heading back to Australia in January 2026 and will finally make their live debut in New Zealand. The run marks 25 years since their self-titled debut album, which they’ll perform in full each night.

Released in 2000, the record gave the world Teenage Dirtbag — a song that remains a cultural landmark. Over the past few years it’s found a second life, from the TikTok “Teenage Dirtbag photos” trend that drew in millions of participants, including Madonna, Lady Gaga and Lil Nas X, to placements in Netflix’s Big Mouth and Disney’s Cruel Summer. In 2023, the single even re-entered the UK Top 40.

That resurgence has carried Wheatus onto festival stages and arena tours alongside acts ranging from Alice Cooper and Blondie to Paramore and Muse. They’ve played Download UK to 20,000 people, toured heavily with Bowling For Soup, and even found frontman Brendan Brown jamming with Ed Sheeran last month.

For Australia and New Zealand, the band are bringing their finely tuned live show, built on decades of touring and fuelled by the anniversary of their debut. As always, alongside the full album set, they’ll take fan requests from across their back catalogue.
