GB News host Eamonn Holmes has taken to social media to pay a sweet tribute to someone special in his life.

This week, GB News star Eamonn Holmes took a moment to honour a very special loved one in his life, his dog Maggie.

The 65-year-old, who recently apologised after dropping a racial slur on air, shared an image of the beloved pet on Instagram.

Maggie, who he adopted with ex-wife Ruth Langsford back in 2011, is seen in the image jumping up in the back of a car.

Eamonn posted his 17-year-old Border Collie in honour of International Dog Day. He captioned the post: “Today is #internationalDogDay And this is Maggie. I love u, Mags x

“She changed my life and gave me unconditional love. My Bestie xxx”

It wasn’t long before people commented on the adorable tribute to his beloved pooch, with many highlighting how important dogs are in people’s lives.

One person said: “Most beautiful photo of Maggie. Animals are the most amazing gift a human can have and can totally turn your life from night to day.”

Eamonn’s tribute comes a few weeks after the former This Morning star urged people to rescue a dog, which is what he opted to do over 10 years ago.

Admitting that Ruth does all the ‘hard stuff’ with Maggie, due to his wheelchair restrictions, Eamonn confessed he’s working to get better in hopes of adopting again in the future.

In another post alongside his beloved dog, Eamonn told his followers Maggie reminds him of his late mum.

He joked: “A really bad knee and hardly any teeth left [sic], but not bad for a 17-year-old!”

People can watch Eamonn on his Breakfast show with his co-star Ellie Costello weekdays on GB News from 6am
