LIV stars sign up for Irish Open including five-time major champion

With the LIV season finishing this week, Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia are all set to tee up at the Amgem Irish Open at The K Club next month

Brooks Koepka leads a star-studded trio of LIV golfers who have signed up for the Amgen Irish Open at The K Club.

Koepka, a five-time major winner, will be joined by former Ryder Cup stalwart Sergio Garcia plus Tyrrell Hatton for the tournament that takes place at the Kildare venue from September 4-7.

The LIV season ends this weekend and so the big name trio are available to add lustre to an event that will also feature Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington and Seamus Power.

All three have pulling power but Koepka, who has three PGA Championship and two US Open triumphs to his name, is a massive addition in particular, even if he has been out of sorts with his game on the LIV circuit this year.

Garcia is a previous Irish Open winner, having beaten Angel Cabrera by three shots at Druids Glen in 1999.

All three featured in The Open at Portrush last month with Hatton, who finished in 16th place, the best finisher of the group.

The Irish Open was won in dramatic circumstances by Rasmus Hojgaard at Royal County Down last year, when he overtook McIlroy down the final straight.

The Dane will return for this year’s tournament as some of the world’s top golfers tune up for the eagerly-anticipated Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black at the end of next month.
