A new drive-thru cafe has been given the green light in South Belfast.
Belfast City Council’s Planning Committee has granted planning permission for several major developments across the city this month, including the new cafe unit on Boucher Road.
Permission was given for the “erection of a drive-through café at lands near Lidl supermarket” and Olympia Leisure Centre.

The supermarket chain opened its first store in South Belfast at the previously vacant land in September last year, with original plans for the store detailing a site across Windor Way for a drive-thru unit.
The plans given the go-ahead by the Planning Committee contain an “amended design” from that of the original approved planning documents and will not impact the Lidl supermarket building.
Proposed elevation documents suggest that it is US coffee giant Starbucks that is planning to open in the drive-thru unit.
It will bring the number of Starbucks stores across the city to 18.
Plans show that they are not alone in wanting to open a drive-thru location in the busy South Belfast area, as consultation is underway for a new unit beside Tim Hortons in Balmoral Plaza Retail Park.
The application states that Canadian fast-food chain Mary Brown’s Chicken, which currently has two locations in Northern Ireland, is the proposed operator of the new site.
