Emmerdale icon Isabel Hodgins has announced she is expecting her first baby with her husband as fans predict the star’s temporary exit for the ITV soap
Emmerdale fans are convinced they have worked out how Victoria Sugden will leave the village after Isabel Hodgins announced she is pregnant with her first child.
The 31-year-old, who has played Victoria on the ITV soap since 2006, revealed she’s expecting a baby just months after marrying Adam Whitehead. The soap star has hinted that she will be exiting the show for a period of time to focus on the child.
Discussing this decision, the ITV star told The Mirror: “I will miss it. I love the people there, but I’ve worked there for 19 years, so I feel like I’ve done what I’ve wanted to do and been selfish with my career.
“Now, it’s time to devote my life to being a mum, that feels right to me. But there’s still FaceTime, so they won’t forget me!”

Emmerdale fans have rushed to social media to congratulate the happy couple on their baby news, while others have been speculating about how Isabel’s character, Victoria, will exit the show while on maternity leave.
Over the past year, Emmerdale viewers have seen Victoria grow closer to estranged half-brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who has recently married Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
But John holds a terrifying secret – he is responsible for killing Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and throwing his body in the river.
The paramedic has also put the lives of other villagers in danger to feed his ‘hero complex’ and has been feuding with brother Robert (Ryan Hawley), who has clocked his strange behaviour.
John also knows where the body of Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) is hidden, although he has also kept this a secret. However, viewers are now predicting Victoria will be the person to expose John, and possibly kill him, leading to a temporary stint in prison.
Taking to Reddit, one Emmerdale fan wrote: “And more baby news. Isabel Hodgins is pregnant. I assume Vic will go on an extended visit to Diane (or go to prison for shovelling John , like it’s the family business).”
A second predicted: “Oh, she has looked pregnant for a long time. I thought she was going to jail for her maternity leave.”
A third chimed in: “Lovely news for Isabel. And story-wise it’s probably quite good timing for the writers – with the John story reaching a climax there are numerous ways Vic could leave the village for a while. As others have said, she could do a stretch in prison, or go on the run.”
“I don’t think they’d have her involved in any of John’s upcoming crimes and end up in prison if the actress plans to leave indefinitely, because they’d have to film prison visits etc because I doubt Robert would leave her to rot knowing how hard he found prison himself,” added another.
