William Hewitt, 25, has been described as a good friend and gentleman by those who knew him
Tributes have been made to a “gentleman” motorcyclist who died following a tragic collision in Co Antrim on Sunday.
William Hewitt from the Belfast area died following a single vehicle collision on Loughareema Road, outside Cushendall, at around 11.30am on Sunday, August 10.
The police and ambulance service were called to the scene, but sadly William passed away as a result of his injuries.

Friends of William and his family have taken to social media to express their grief at his passing and to send their condolences at this sad time.
One person said: “Very sad news today my friends, what started out as a crackin day on the bikes ended in an absolute tragedy with the death of our good and dear friend William Hewitt, Willy was a true gentleman and a good mate.
“My thoughts are with his family and all his friends.
“Rest in Peace Willy, your in our thoughts.
“Sadly sadly missed.”
Another said: “Saddened today with the news of my friend William Hewitt one of life’s gentlemen called far too soon rest easy mate.”
Road Safety Charity Life After said on social media: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of William Hewitt from Belfast, after he was involved in an RTC yesterday near Cushendall.
“Could everyone please keep William’s family in your thoughts and prayers:“We at Life After offer our deepest sympathies to the Hewitt family and can assure you that support and assistance is available if or when required.”
Police have said they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of William’s death and are asking anyone with any information that could help them to contact them.
Roads Policing Inspector Cherith Adair, from the Police Service Collision Investigation Unit, stated: “Our officers received and responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle in the area shortly after 11.30am.“Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service also attended, however, Mr Hewitt sadly died from his injuries.“The investigation remains ongoing, and we would ask anyone with phone or dash-cam footage, or information which may assist, to get in touch. Police are particularly keen to hear from the driver of a tractor who assisted at the scene.“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 655 of 10/08/25.”
