Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that George Shuttleworth will get a new love interest in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap
Coronation Street spoilers for the upcoming week reveal George Shuttleworth beginning to move forward.
Fans of the soap will remember that George was romantically involved with Eileen Grimshaw, but was left devastated earlier this year when she left him for a fresh start away from the cobbles.
Eileen chose to relocate to Thailand with her eldest son Jason Grimshaw, who came back for her exit storyline, after he proposed an opportunity for her to invest in his bar and move there.
George was open to the idea of moving with Eileen, but before she embarked on her new journey, she ended things with George, confessing she only loved him as a mate.
In next week’s spoilers, George decides it’s time to move on, informing his sister Glenda Shuttleworth that he’s agreed to go on a date with a woman named Samantha, reports Leicestershire Live.
George seeks advice from his sister, particularly as he shows off his new attire purchased for the date. However, the situation becomes awkward when, during the date, Glenda is shocked to see her brother’s new romantic interest.
Spoilers reveal that Samantha and Glenda are surprised to recognise each other from primary school and as they enthusiastically embrace each other, George is forced to take a back seat, leaving him unimpressed.
Soap enthusiasts may recognise the new character Samantha, portrayed by actress Liz Carney. Liz has played three different roles in Emmerdale over the years from 2008 to 2020.
The actress has portrayed Janet, a therapist and a liaison officer on the beloved ITV soap opera.
Her previous credits include Mount Pleasant, The Royal and Grange Hill.
This follows the departure of Eileen star Sue Cleaver from the acclaimed ITV soap earlier this year after spending 25 years on the cobbles.
Speaking on Loose Women, where she serves as a panellist, Sue, 61, revealed at the time: “I have decided after 25 wonderful years that it is time to hang Eileen back up in the prop cupboard.
“I’ve decided it’s time to leave, they’re keeping the door firmly open for me. It’s just the right time!”.
She continued regarding her departure: “Emotional, emotional, I mean 25 years is a long long time!”.
“I went into that show when my son was, well he’s 29 now, he was very young. It became my family!”, explaining that she hadn’t initially planned to remain on the cobbles for such an extended period before becoming a soap favourite.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
