PLAYR-FIT help raise thousands for Evora Hospice thanks to Business 5s event

The Business 5s is a tournament that keeps growing with another 32 businesses and over 250 players getting involved this year

Teamwear specialists PLAYR-FIT brought local businesses together for their annual Business 5-a-side football tournament which took place over two weeks, raising a massive £7,242 for charity partner Evora Hospice (formerly Southern Area Hospice Services).

The Business 5s is a tournament that continues to expand, with another 32 businesses and over 250 players taking part this year – a genuine demonstration of community spirit, all in aid of an excellent cause.

What started as a straightforward concept to merge sport with charitable giving has developed into an essential event on the local business calendar.

The tournament was held at Newry City AFC cages across two Fridays and witnessed a brilliant turnout, with local businesses taking part.

Each squad received custom jerseys created by PLAYR-FIT, providing a personalised element to this enjoyable and competitive occasion.

Week one of the competition saw Norbrook crowned cup champions for the third time in four years, whilst Finnebrogue made an outstanding debut by claiming the shield.

Week two featured returning businesses Walltech Plastering & Drylining securing the cup, with MyLife Bathrooms claiming the shield.

There was a brilliant atmosphere and community spirit as always throughout the two weeks.

“This initiative was born from our deep ties to local sport and a desire to make a real impact in the community,” said Kieran Quinn, PLAYR-FIT Director. “The Hospice does incredible work, and we’re proud to support another outstanding local charity.”
