Conor McGregor submitted his first anti-doping test of 2025 this week as the former two-weight UFC champion continues to target a return to action in the Octagon
Conor McGregor is making strides towards a UFC comeback, having submitted his first anti-doping test of 2025.
News broke this week that McGregor had provided a sample to the UFC’s anti-doping unit, marking his first test of 2025.
According to UFC regulations, a fighter must provide six months’ worth of clean samples before being permitted to compete in the promotion.
Given that McGregor’s sample was submitted within the last week or so, he could potentially be cleared to fight as early as next February, reports the Irish Mirror.
This could pave the way for McGregor to participate in the rumoured ‘White House’ UFC event, which Donald Trump reportedly wants to host at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave on 4th July next year to mark 250 years of American independence.
McGregor has been vocal on social media about his ambition to feature on the card and compete as Ireland’s President.
However, while the Dubliner is keen to succeed Michael D Higgins as President, he would require the support of either 20 members of the Oireachtas or four local authorities – both scenarios seem highly unlikely.
The Irishman hasn’t competed in the UFC since 2021 when he suffered two losses to Dustin Poirier.
He was scheduled to make a return against Michael Chandler last year but withdrew due to a toe injury.
