Liam Neeson has enjoyed a glittering career in Hollywood, but the 73-year-old has revealed the moment he is most proud of – and it’s not what you’d assume
Veteran actor Liam Neeson has revealed the “proudest” moment of his career, and it’s not what you might expect. While promoting his new comedy film, The Naked Gun, alongside co-star Pamela Anderson, the Taken star was asked about his proudest career moment.
Many might have assumed it would be his Oscar nomination for Schindler’s List, but Neeson surprised everyone with his response. In a heartfelt exchange between Neeson and Anderson, the 73-year-old suggested that his proudest moments were not on screen with the likes of Steven Spielberg or Christian Bale, but rather off screen with his The Naked Gun co-star.
When asked: “What is your proudest career moment to date?” Anderson suggested it might be his role in Schindler’s List, which earned him his first and only Academy Awards nomination.
Despite losing out on the award to Tom Hanks for Philadelphia, the nomination remains a significant highlight in Neeson’s illustrious career.
However, when pressed on his proudest moment, Neeson responded: “Working with you. Yeah, working with Pamela.”
In a separate interview, Neeson praised Anderson, who he is reportedly dating, as she embarks on the “second part” of her career.
Neeson heaped praise on Anderson, declaring: “Pamela’s become a new power. I’m delighted, you know? And she’s terrific. I have every admiration for her, for this kickoff on the second part of her career. It’s amazing, it’s wonderful. And she’s so ready for it.”
Supporters were thrilled for the rumoured pair, and whilst their romance remains unconfirmed officially, audiences are convinced there’s undeniable spark between them.
One admirer posted on Reddit: “Even if they don’t end up in a real long term relationship, it’s clear they have a lot of love and respect for each other within their profession.”
Another commented: “For Liam to say working with her as his proudest moment instead of Schindler’s List is pretty much saying ‘I love you!'”
Neeson, who features in The Naked Gun reboot with Anderson, was determined to make the character his own. The Leslie Nielsen-led originals proved massive successes during the 1980s and 1990s.
However, Neeson, who acknowledged he was “game” for the “silly stuff” featured in the picture, wished to tackle the project without needing to “emulate” Nielsen, who played police detective Frank Drebin across three movies and the TV series, Police Squad.
Neeson explained: “I did not want to emulate the wonderful Leslie Nielsen, but the only thing I grabbed from him, was, ‘Be serious. Don’t try to be funny. Just stick to being a serious cop who is a bit of a doofus.'”
