Emmerdale’s Dylan Penders has returned and some fans think they have worked out a connection between him and another villager.
Emmerdale’s Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) has made a comeback following a stint in rehab, but fans are convinced they have worked out a family connection between the teenager and the village.
Earlier this year, on the ITV soap, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) was living on the streets when Dylan took her under his wing. When the schoolgirl returned to the Dales, she was soon followed by troubled Dylan, who admitted to having a drug addiction.
After a turbulent time and a near-deadly drug overdose, Dylan left the village to check into a rehab clinic funded by Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), leaving April emotional as she bid farewell to her friend. This week, Dylan made a comeback to the village.

During Tuesday’s visit to the village (July 29), April was visiting her mum’s grave and spotted Dylan hiding in the bushes before encouraging him to show his face. The friends catch up at the graveyard, with Dylan sharing that he’s now clean from drugs.
Unbeknownst to April, Dylan is suffering from a nasty injury after breaking into Butler’s Farm and being stabbed in the leg with a pitchfork by terrified Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).
Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is currently being blamed for the incident after threatening Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), as a feud between the two families grows.
Despite Dylan growing closer to his pal April, little is known about his backstory, including the identity of his parents, leaving Emmerdale fans to speculate about the teenager’s paternity.
While some soap fans are convinced Dylan is related to gangster Ray (Joe Absolom), others predict that some of his biological family are already in the village as and he is the son of Eli Dingle.
Actor Joseph Gilgun portrayed Eli Dingle on the programme, making his debut in 2006. As the younger brother of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Eli became a firm favourite with viewers.
He also played a part in several big storylines, including sleeping with cousin Debbie (Charley Webb) and assisting in Alice’s (Ursula Holden-Gill) suicide. However, in 2010, Eli fled the village after a robbery.
Taking to social media, one person wrote: “Please help me out here guys as the Dingle family tree is even more complicated than my family. Let’s just go along with the rumour that Dylan is Eli’s son.
“What connection does that link April to Dylan because she likes him in a romantic way and may get a shock.”
A second stated: “I believe Eli is Marlon’s brother, if so that would make Dylan & April 1st cousins.”
A third chimed in: “Could he already have a connection to the village? Could he be Eli Dingle’s son? We’d love a return for him!”
“My first thought was Eli too actually. Eli hasn’t been in it for 15 years now, and I think it’s reasonable to say that Dylan is around 15, so I think it’s very possible imo,” added one viewer.
“Not being funny but Dylan COULD pass as Eli’s kid… #emmerdale,” exclaimed another.
