“Well we spent so much time together, a kind of natural chemistry happens. I don’t know if it always happens but we were kind of lucky”
Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson have opened up on their ‘natural chemistry’ when working together.
In an interview on Monday’s Loose Women, GK Barry sat down with the stars to discuss their careers and their new film The Naked Gun.
On being nervous before filming started, Pamela said: “Your nerves are always going before you meet an entire crew and everybody all at once, but especially meeting Liam.
“He’s had an amazing career and I feel like I’m just starting, so you feel a little insecure but then the butterflies go away and then, there you are.”
Asked if they did anything to ‘bond’ before playing their roles, Pamela replied: “Well we spent so much time together, a kind of natural chemistry happens. I don’t know if it always happens but we were kind of lucky.”
Ballymena actor Liam added: “Pamela’s a fantastic cook… She very sweetly, numerous times, made me some sourdough bread which was stunning.”
Discussing playing a ‘femme fatale’ in the movie, Pamela said: “It was a great role to play. I mean, who doesn’t want to be a femme fatale? A lot of my favourite movies are these interesting kind of noir films and I love old movies and Hitchcock. I just thought it was going to be very fun to play. It’s nice to play roles in films and not in your personal life.”
Liam continued: “Pamela was able to add to that sort of noir character, that we all kind of recognise. She just brought her own sensibilities to it that made her very, very human.”
Pamela also opened up on being back in the limelight: “I’m just doing it my own way, I’m not listening too much to the advice of others because I feel I don’t know what my next incarnation will be or what I want to be. But, I feel more comfortable this way right now but it could change tomorrow. We can change our mind.”
On having the support of her sons, Pamela said: “It’s just more fun. Sometimes I’ll be, ‘I don’t want to do it’ but [then] ‘Oh, no, the boys will really want me to do that’ so, I do it. They’re terrific. I mean, if I listen to anybody’s advice, I listen to them.”
Before the end of the interview, Liam discussed his career and plans for the future: “To be honest with you, I have no plans. I’ve had such a lucky career. I’m 73 years of age and they’re still offering me scripts. Some, where I’m beating people up, I am open to anything – so long as it’s not horror. I’m not a fan.”
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
