Laura Woods collapsed on live TV while presenting coverage of the England Lionesses vs Ghana

Laura Woods has reassured fans that she is fine after fainting during a live broadcast on Tuesday evening, sharing an update on her Instagram account.

The well-known presenter, 38, was hosting coverage of the England Lionesses’ friendly match against Ghana when she collapsed on air. Pundits Ian Wright and Anita Asante caught her before ITV quickly switched to a commercial break.

Katie Shanahan took over presenting duties and confirmed Woods was “doing okay” at half-time of the match, which England won 2-0. Woods’ fiancé, Adam Collard, also posted on X to reassure concerned fans about her wellbeing. She then used social media to confirm she was fine and to apologise for causing concern.

In a message posted on her Instagram story, Woods said: “Gosh that was a bit weird. Sorry to worry everyone, im ok, the wonderful paramedic at Saints have said its probably a virus, just need a bit of rest and rehydration.”, reports the Mirror.

“I’m really embarrassed that happened on tv, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty and Neets for catching me. And sorry again x”.

ITV shared a screenshot of her post on their X account alongside the message: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, @laura_woodsy.”

Woods’ message came after Collard had posted earlier that evening, responding to supporters who had sent their best wishes to the TNT Sports presenter on social media. He wrote in a subsequent update: “Laura is all OK and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

Supporters swiftly sent their well-wishes to Woods following the distressing incident, which was aired just prior to the start of the match at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.

One fan penned: “Really hope Laura Woods is okay. Fair play to Ian Wright and Anita Asante for catching her. Fair play to the stand-in presenter who stepped in, some effort that.”
