PARIS – Groupe Clarins awarded two partner charities engaged in helping children with the Prix Pour l’Enfance Clarins at its Parisian headquarters on Thursday evening.
The first prize went to La Chaîne de l’Espoir, for its project to help vulnerable Afghani children. The organization received 35,000 euros and was chosen by a jury that included Virginie Courtin, Olivier Courtin, Nicolas Prieur, Guillaume Lascourrèges, Ophélie Meunier and Marie Robert.
The Coup de Coeur Prize, voted on by Clarins employees, was granted to À Chacun Son Everest!, an association that will enable 15 children with cancer to take part in outdoor activities in Chamonix, France, as well as in a group discussion to explore paths of recovery. That organization won 15,000 euros.
The selection was made from 11 initiatives.
Since 1997, Groupe Clarins has been involved in organizations backing vulnerable and/or disadvantaged children throughout the world with concrete actions. That year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its product Eau Dynamisante, the group launched the Prix de la Femme Dynamisante, which supported women dedicating themselves to improving the lives of children. That was then renamed Prix Pour l’Enfance Clarins.
Virginie Courtin, managing director of Groupe Clarins, described the prize as a “great love story” started by her grandfather, Jacques Courtin, who founded the company.
“It really began from a raison d’être, a reason to believe,” she said.

The financial and human support Groupe Clarins grants is for the long term. Each year it backs all partner associations awarded since the prize began. Altogether, through the commitment, 70,000 children have been helped.
Olivier Courtin, Groupe Clarins managing director, said his father Jacques Courtin considered children as the future.
Starting last year, marking Clarins Group’s 70th anniversary, rather than nominating a new association for the prize the company chose to refocus on the 14 partner associations that had already been recognized. The idea was to challenge each to design a new project linked to children’s well-being, education, health and overall development.
Also in attendance at the event Thursday were Christian Courtin, chairman of Groupe Clarins; Jonathan Zrihen, president and chief executive officer of Groupe Clarins, and Katalin Berenyi, general manager of the Clarins brand.
