Despite Portofino in Italy being incredibly popular, countless visitors overlook this stunning stretch of shoreline. This picturesque cove goes by the name Baia Cannone, nestled amongst vibrant villas perched on dramatic clifftops. It also features pristine waters and won’t cost you a penny to experience. You can choose to embark on a yacht excursion or simply fancy a dip in the sapphire sea.

A holidaymaker recently shared the location’s sheer magnificence on TikTok. Travel enthusiast @leiitravels revealed to her 13,000 followers that many overlook the beach due to the abundance of alternative spots nearby.

She declared: “I can’t believe people visit Portofino, Italy but miss this beach. Save it for your trip to the Italian Riviera.”

The footage has racked up over 1.1 million views with numerous viewers flocking to the comments to voice their opinions.

Getting there

As you depart from the charming town of Portofino, heading towards Paraggi on the main road, you’ll come across a staircase that descends to the beach.

It’s merely a 10-minute stroll from the town centre. Alternatively, you could hop on the ferry to Baia Cannone and take in the stunning sea vistas.

The optimal times to visit Baia Cannone are late spring and September. This is because you can enjoy the pleasantly warm weather suitable for swimming and sidestep the peak summer crowds.

While most visitors make it a day trip, consider staying in the vicinity. Opting for a sea-view apartment or villa could be perfect.
