Emmerdale fans are convinced a former resident could be returning
Emmerdale fans are speculating the return of a soap legend to rescue April Windsor from the clutches of villain Ray Walters.
April (played by Amelia Flanagan) is currently entangled in the perilous world of drug dealing, alongside Dylan Penders (portrayed by Fred Kettle). Initially, it was only Dylan who was working for the dangerous dealer Ray (Joe Absolom).
However, April soon found herself drawn into the shady industry as well, undertaking tasks for Ray after he decided she could be of use.
But when April lost a bag of drugs during a drop off, after being threatened with a knife, Ray informed both her and Dylan that they were now indebted to him and had to continue working to repay it.
Unbeknownst to the teenagers, the malicious and sinister Ray had orchestrated the entire situation, paying a man to intimidate April. Now, Ray is manipulating both April and Dylan, leaving them with no option but to work for him, reports the Daily Star.
This week, the plot thickens as April leaves her younger brother Leo to deliver drugs. However, Leo ends up consuming some drugs that April accidentally dropped, leading to an emergency hospital visit.
A distraught April tells Dylan that they need to sever ties with Ray’s dodgy dealings – unaware that Ray has overheard everything and is resolved to safeguard his empire.
With more drama on the horizon, fans are convinced a former resident could be returning to bring down Ray and save April. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person commented: “Someone needs to get rid of Ray already, he’s horrible.”
Another fan chimed in and predicted April’s uncle Eli Dingle (Joseph Gilgun). They wrote: “I’d love it if Eli Dingle returned!” Another chimed in: “He’d defo sort Ray out!”.
A third pointed out: “The actor who plays him is done with his show on Sky it’s called Brassic, so perfect timing for a return.” Someone else penned: “That’s true!”.
Actor Joseph Gilgun portrayed Eli Dingle on the programme, making his debut way back in 2006. As the younger brother of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Eli became a firm favourite with viewers.
He also played a part in several big storylines too, including sleeping with cousin Debbie (Charley Webb) and assisting in Alice’s (Ursula Holden-Gill) suicide. However, in 2010, Eli fled the village after a robbery.
