Bob MacIntyre was one of the standout performers for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup, and has now taken to social media to ram the taunts of USA fans back down their throats
Bob MacIntyre has fired back at USA fans from the Ryder Cup in a brutal social media post.
The Oban golfer played a pivotal role in helping Team Europe secure a stunning trophy victory at Bethpage Black in New York.
Following his return to Scotland, MacIntyre has continued to revel in the triumph as he took to Instagram to mock the home crowd.
The American supporters faced criticism for overstepping the mark during the competition, with Rory McIlroy slamming their behaviour throughout the event.
MacIntyre has now shared a compilation of his finest moments whilst showcasing some of the abuse he endured in attempts to distract him, reports the Daily Record.
Set to Gala’s classic 1990s anthem “Freed from Desire”, he catalogued the insults one by one.
The opening jibe stated: “Eat another burger Bobby?” accompanied by footage of him sinking a putt. The second taunted: “Milk bottle”.
Another declared: “Bobby Mac and cheese” with the concluding barb asking: “When you starting Ozempic?”, before his closing sequence showed him lifting the Ryder Cup trophy.
Rory McIlroy and his wife alongside the complete European squad eventually received an apology from the PGA of America for enduring appalling abuse at The Ryder Cup.
Luke Donald’s team faced a barrage of revolting personal attacks throughout the tournament at Bethpage.
Elements of the New York audience behaved shamefully with tournament officials forced to deploy additional security. Players were subjected to verbal abuse, insults and even Rory McIlroy’s wife Erica had a drink thrown at her during the disgraceful Saturday events on Long Island.
PGA of America president Don Rae took a rather dismissive stance when questioned about it that evening, making almost dismissive statements including “things like that are going to happen.”
However, the organisation’s CEO Derek Sprague has since stepped up with a proper apology to McIlroy, his wife and Donald’s entire team, which includes players like Shane Lowry and Bob MacIntyre who were also targeted by unruly spectators.
He stated: “There’s no place for that in the Ryder Cup or in the game of golf and I think Rory said it.
“We’re better than that in golf and that’s one thing that our game has always sort of portrayed right around the world when you compare it to other sports is that golf is a great game and people enjoy the game because of the values that the game of golf has.”
