Emmerdale viewers are convinced they’ve worked out where Anthony Fox is being kept

It’s been a whirlwind week on Emmerdale, kicking off with the nuptials of Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).

In another part of the village, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and his wicked husband John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) found themselves in hospital after John hurled them both off a cliff.

However, John sneakily blamed the incident on his half-brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley), who was swiftly returned to prison despite protesting his innocence.

On Wednesday (September 17), John attempted to disconnect Aaron’s life support before making a hasty exit from the hospital. Aaron later regained consciousness and revealed that his spouse was holding Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) captive.

As the police initiated their search for Mack, a frantic John covertly left him outside the hospital, alleging he had discovered him at the roadside, reports the Daily Star.

Friday (September 19) saw police cars swarming the village in pursuit of John, as Mack recounted the villain’s confessions from the bunker.

Meanwhile, Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) were fretting about John revealing their own secrets if apprehended.

Long-time soap fans will recall the shocking episode in January when Aaron confronted Ruby’s abusive father, Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), only to return later to find his adversary dead at the depot.

Haunted by the thought that he had inadvertently killed Anthony, Aaron begged John to dispose of the body. However, unbeknown to Aaron, it was actually Ruby who was the true culprit.

Despite asserting that Anthony had been buried in a woodland location, it soon emerged that John had been lying, with the location of the body still a mystery.

“I can’t believe we trusted John like we did,” Caleb confessed on tonight’s episode, with Ruby chiming in: “Well, I suppose if someone tells you they’ll dispose of a body for you, you’ve got to question what kind of crazy they are.”

On the possibility of John informing the police about Anthony, Ruby later commented: “It’ll be worse for him.”

Caleb then observed: “Not if he’s got nothing to lose. He might even get a kick out of having his husband in prison with him. Who knows, maybe he likes getting people sent down as much as he does at nearly killing them.”

Speculation has been rampant in recent months about Anthony’s whereabouts and whether he is alive or not, with fans now convinced that he’ll reappear soon.

Several viewers reckon that the police could discover Anthony in the same bunker where Mack was held.

“It would have been a good twist if Anthony was somehow alive and was in the bunker too,” one person posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added: “Yeah this Anthony plot isn’t over yet,” while a third remarked: “Anthony is defo going to get found after Caleb and Ruby mentioned him tonight.”

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer speculated: “Reckon John’s redemption will be him taking the blame for Anthony or Cain will pin it on him.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
