Gardai have issued a fresh warning to anyone withholding information on the disappearance of Kyran Durnin, who was reported missing from his home in Drogheda, Co Louth in August of last year
Gardai have reiterated their warning that anyone withholding information about the disappearance of missing schoolboy Kyran Durnin is committing a criminal offence.
The death of a man who was arrested in connection with the child’s disappearance has also been revealed to be hindering the investigation.
Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern made an appeal yesterday for anyone who can assist with their investigation into Kyran’s disappearance to step forward.

It is believed by Gardai that there are several individuals who know what happened to the child and where his remains are, but they are refusing to cooperate with the authorities.
Kyran, who would now be nine years old, was reported missing from his home in Drogheda, Co Louth in August of last year, reports the Irish Mirror.
The case was subsequently escalated to a murder investigation when gardai came to believe the child had been killed.
Further searches are expected to be conducted as part of this investigation, and additional arrests may be made.
Speaking at a memorial for murdered Garda Tony Golden at Haggardstown, Co Louth, Chief Superintendent McGovern urged those with any information to come forward.
He stated: “A number of arrests have been made and intrusive searches have been carried out, and our senior investigating officer and his team are working hard in the case.
“But we are appealing for anyone with information in relation to Kyran Durnin to come forward and a reminder that anyone withholding information may be committing a criminal offence.”
The last-known images of Kyran were captured in June 2022 when he was just six years old.
However, the investigation into his disappearance has been complicated by the death of a man believed to have taken his own life.
Gardaí have disclosed that over 570 separate investigative actions have been undertaken and two individuals – a man and a woman – were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Among those detained was a woman in her 20s, who is thought to have been acquainted with Kyran.
A 36 year old man was also apprehended as gardaí conducted an “intrusive” search at a property and its surrounding gardens in a housing estate in Drogheda, Co Louth.
Both individuals were later released without charge.
Gardaí confirmed that the man, Anthony Maguire, was discovered dead at his home in Drogheda just days following his release.
In total, three domestic properties and adjoining lands underwent searches which included excavation works and a full forensic examination of each scene.
