Emmerdale viewers have been left puzzled over a missing detail as Aaron Dingle (portrayed by Danny Miller) battles for his life in hospital.
During Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap (10th September), Aaron and his spouse John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) were hurried to hospital after John dragged them both over the edge of a cliff. Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) cried out for assistance after attempting to help John and Aaron at the bottom of the slope.
Twisted paramedic John, who arrived in the Dales last year as the estranged half-brother of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), has murdered Nate Robinson and then pinned the blame on troubled patient Owen for his killing.
John has also been holding Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) captive in an underground bunker after shooting him with a bow and arrow some weeks ago. After discovering that Aaron and Robert had slept together, John drugged his husband, Aaron, and tried to keep him secluded at his country cottage.

Just before the cliff jump, John rang the police and claimed his husband’s ex, Robert, had arrived and was threatening to kill them both, reports the Daily Star.
He then seized Aaron, made a remark about how he cannot belong to anyone else, and jumped from the edge.
Robert then dashed down the hill after dialling for an ambulance. He cradled Aaron in his arms, expressing his love for him and praying that he pulls through.
At the hospital, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) was informed that Aaron was in a coma due to bleeding on the brain, whilst Robert was told that John had sustained several broken ribs but would pull through.
“Pity,” Robert responded, as the Dingles began pointing the finger at him for the incident. Blameless Robert will also face justice as he finds himself under arrest.
During the most recent episode (11th September), Robert’s questioning commenced following his arrest on charges of attempted murder.
The detective appeared sceptical of Robert’s allegations about John and questioned whether the gorge incident stemmed from jealousy. Meanwhile, John had regained consciousness.
He swiftly began weaving a tale for the benefit of Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), insisting that Robert was to blame. Aaron remained battling for his life.
Elsewhere, Emmerdale fans have been posing the same query – why hasn’t Aaron been examined to determine if he was under the influence of drugs during the fall?
Turning to Reddit, one sharp-eyed viewer questioned: “I know nothing about medicine or health care, but would the drugs John gave Aaron not show up in a blood test or something? (I’m not sure how long it would take for them to not show up in his system) Could that back up Robert’s claims? Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m clueless about that stuff.”
Another added: “I hope it will be a clue to someone that Robert couldn’t have been hurting Aaron, and John was.”
A third viewer chimed in: “I’m about as clueless as you are lol but to me it sounds only logical that they would test their blood and in Aaron’s case see that he had powerful sedatives/drugs in his system.”
While another fan clarified: “Sometimes yes. some drugs come out the system in 24 hours and only show in blood work after an extended time. Plus they put him on sedatives and induced a coma so it would be contaminated now.”
A third added: “He should have been tested on arrival but they didn’t check cause there was no mention/ concern of drugging. I’m going off other police/ medical shows so take with a pinch of salt.”
