Katie Taylor, the undisputed super-lightweight champion, has made her first public appearance with her new husband following their private wedding ceremony.
Her father Pete recently revealed that his daughter had quietly tied the knot away from the public eye. Not much is known about Katie’s personal life as she prefers to keep it out of the media spotlight.
However, she was seen in public with her husband and family during a visit to Tiglin, an Irish charity dedicated to helping those affected by homelessness, substance abuse, and social isolation.
Senator Aubrey McCarthy, the head of the organisation, shared a photo of Katie and her husband on social media, according to RSVP Live, reports the Irish Mirror.
Posting the picture on X, he said: “Humbled to welcome the undisputed world champion @KatieTaylor and her husband and family to @TiglinIreland.
“Her quiet strength and powerful message uplifted everyone in the room. Katie reminded us that recovery, like boxing, requires courage, discipline and heart.
“Thank you for inspiring hope where it’s needed most.”
Mr McCarthy also shared a video from the visit, saying: “So it’s Friday and I’m up in Tiglin men’s centre in the Wicklow mountains, and we have a special guest here today.
“We have the world champion boxer Katie Taylor and her family and her new husband.
“Amazing people, Katie shared with our guys, the guys who do the programme at Tiglin, an amazing story of resilience, hope, and about how you can conquer the world.
“So at Tiglin, we have people on a programme, and their job is to get their lives back in order.”
The 2012 Olympic champion was joined by family members during the visit.
Katie’s father Pete disclosed news of his daughter’s wedding last month.
The Bray boxer was spotted wearing a wedding ring, with her father telling the Anything Goes podcast: “Ever since the fight there with Katie, people are seeing the two of us back together, even some of the s*** you hear about that.”
Addressing rumours about his involvement in her personal life, he added: “I was reading somewhere that Katie Taylor never got married because of her father, he wouldn’t let her.
“Katie’s married, you know, and I’m thinking, ‘Where are you getting this s*** from?’.”
