South London rapper and singer Layyah has released her new single ‘Money Moves’.
A track that continues her rapid rise following her breakthrough on BBC’s The Rap Game UK in 2024. The single follows her summer release Passenger Sideand demonstrates the versatility and originality that has led some to describe her as the UK’s answer to Missy Elliott.
Blending elements of grime, rap and R&B, ‘Money Moves’ is a bold, hip-hop-infused anthem marked by Layyah’s cinematic production style and assertive delivery. With themes of love, financial independence and resilience, the track positions itself as both a groove-heavy summer soundtrack and an empowering statement.
“Money Moves is a song about the ideal lifestyle of a couple getting their money. They make their own money individually, but they are in it together. This is what I’m manifesting for myself,” Layyah explained.
Born Layyah Franks-Davies, the South London artist began honing her craft at ELAM College, drawing on her African heritage while developing a sound rooted in the UK’s urban music traditions. Her victory on The Rap Game UK in 2024, where she became the show’s first female winner, brought her into the national spotlight. Since then, she has released two singles and a freestyle, amassing millions of streams and views across digital platforms.
