Next’s ‘lovely’ £64 autumnal coat that ‘feels like wearing a duvet’

The ‘cold season staple’ is available in a huge range of sizes and fits

The Met Office’s latest predictions for the rest of September show a huge potential for heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and colder conditions. As summer draws to a close, people may wish to consider getting a ‘big coat’ in the coming weeks to keep them warm and dry.

Next has an extensive range of coats designed to carry you through autumn and into winter. Plenty of styles are branded as classic and typically complement a broad range of outfits, meaning customers won’t need to rethink their entire wardrobe when shopping.

One choice that lots of Next customers are raving about is the Chocolate Brown Shower Resistant Padded Puffer Hooded Mid-Length Coat. It’s priced at £64 on the fashion retailer’s website and is available in sizes 6-24, with additional options for regular, petite, or tall fits.

Next bosses describe this coat as a “cold season staple”. It is also said to be ideal for anyone who needs to “brave the elements” during the school run, commuting to work or enjoying a day out without letting the chill affect you, reports the Mirror.

In the product details, Next said: “Made from a durable and shower-resistant fabric, this mid-length coat will keep you warm and dry during winter. Complete with pockets, a hood and zip fastening [too].”

There are similar coats available such as the Longline Padded Puffer Coat at New Look for £85.99 or the TOG24 Palmer Padded Jacket available at Debenhams for £59, down from £85. However, plenty of shoppers are praising the “stylish” Next alternative above all else.

Next’s Chocolate Brown Shower Resistant Padded Puffer Hooded Mid-Length Coat has an overall rating of 4.2 out of five stars, based on reviews from customers who have tested the coat’s claims. One said: “Lovely and warm, plus it’s nice and thick so when it’s windy you don’t feel it at all. Not like other coats I’ve bought, it looks nice on and feels nice too, just what I wanted.”

Another added: “Love this coat toasty warm and shower proof, however I would recommend going up a size [as it is a] snug fit.” A third reviewer put: “Lovely coat, perfect fit, colour and excellent quality. Very warm to wear and will last many years. Looks and feels very expensive.”

However, not all feedback was positive. A few customers felt compelled to leave less favourable reviews, with one stating: “The only good thing about this coat was the colour.

“Zipped pockets that catch your hand when using. The hidden hood isn’t functional at all and won’t keep you dry anytime soon. I returned this coat straight away.” Another customer shared: “Lovely length coat and felt warm but I did not like the very bulky collar so had to return it. Would have liked just a simple hood.”

But, another person saw the good side of the coat, and said: “This coat is perfect, waterproof and feels like a duvet when it’s on. Great buy!” One more added: “This coat is so warm excellent for a cold day.

“It’s all padded and with a beautiful fleece lining in the pockets to keep your hands warm. You definitely do not need any gloves, the pockets themselvesf will keep your hands so warm!”
