Man, 50s, dies in hospital after Co Fermanagh incident

Police have confirmed a man in his 50s has died in hospital after an incident in Co Fermanagh this afternoon.

The fire service, ambulance service, air ambulance and police attended the incident which occurred in the Gardrum Road area of Enniskillen at around 2.50pm on Wednesday afternoon, September 3.

The man was taken to South West Acute Hospital but later died in hospital from injuries sustained in the incident.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police can confirm that a man aged in his 50s has died in hospital from injuries sustained following an incident in the Gardrum Road area of Enniskillen area earlier this afternoon, Wednesday 3rd September.

“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 14:49 on Wednesday 3 September, following reports of an incident in the Gardrum Road area of Enniskillen.

“NIAS despatched a number of resources to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to South West Acute Hospital.”

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said: “HSENI is aware of an incident in the Enniskillen area and inspectors are attending the scene to make enquiries.”
