Emmerdale fans are baffled as Mackenzie Boyd fights for his life in an underground bunker
Emmerdale viewers have clocked a revolting blunder in Mackenzie Boyd’s bunker storyline.
The beloved soap character Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) is currently being imprisoned by secret murderer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in a subterranean chamber deep in the woodland.
Last week, John assaulted Mack following his discovery that John was responsible for killing Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) last year and disposing of his corpse in a lake.
Using drastic tactics to prevent Mack from escaping and revealing all, a nail-biting confrontation then unfolded in the forest, during which John fired an arrow at Mack, before seemingly finishing him with a huge stone.
Yet in a massive plot twist, it emerged that a severely wounded Mack is actually still breathing and is being imprisoned by John in a hidden underground shelter in the woods, reports the Daily Star.
Earlier this week, Mack tried to charm John in an effort to secure his freedom. Nevertheless, the strategy failed spectacularly when John caught him attempting an assault.
And in Tuesday’s instalment (September 1) it became apparent that Mack wouldn’t be departing anytime soon, despite John’s medical supplies for Mack running low.
Yet amidst all the unfolding chaos, fans have been left puzzled by Mackenzie’s stint in the bunker, with one viewer highlighting on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page: “Where does Mack go to the toilet? …. Never see John empty a bucket.”
Another person commented: “I always think that! !”. Sharing similar sentiments, a third remarked: “Said that to my dad last night or how does he eat his hand are tied up.”
Earlier this week, Lawrence, who plays Mack in the soap, broke his silence about the plot twist. The actor revealed: “I’m glad the secret that Mack isn’t quite dead (yet) is over. I have felt slightly deceitful over the last two weeks when people have asked me about his death.
“Whilst I have enjoyed being somewhat of an enigma over that time, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the drama we shot is received on screen.”
Adding a note about his co-star Oliver Farnworth, who plays John Sugden, he said: “Both Ollie and I really enjoyed shooting it, so hopefully the jeopardy of Mack’s position will keep the audience gripped!”.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
