M.I.A. has announced headline shows in Australia this October, bringing her singular mix of hip-hop, electronic and punk to Melbourne’s Forum (26 Oct) and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre (29 Oct), following a Harvest Rock set in Adelaide (25 Oct).
Since emerging with her 2005 debut Arular, the British-Sri Lankan artist has built a career defined by fearless experimentation and outspoken social commentary. 2007’s Kala made her a household name, with “Paper Planes” shifting the global conversation and later finding its way into films, Grammy nods and a raft of remixes and samples.
Across albums like Matangi and AIM, she’s pushed against expectations, while also cutting across worlds of art, fashion and activism. In 2022, she released MATA, a record that leaned into spiritual reflection while maintaining her restless creative edge.
Now, almost two decades after first breaking through, M.I.A. returns with new music on the horizon, her Ohmni clothing line in full swing, and a live show that continues to connect past urgency with future vision.
