Coronation Street fans have been left stunned upon recognising the actress portraying Asha Alahan’s work supervisor from elsewhere.
This week on the cobbles, a special episode was aired, revealing the distressing and heart-wrenching experiences Asha (Tanisha Gorey), a trainee paramedic, had to face during her shift.
Asha, alongside her supervisor Sienna, was dispatched to attend to an injured elderly resident and assist with a severe bike accident. Despite successfully resuscitating the bike crash victim and ensuring his transfer to hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries later on.
Adding to the shock, Asha became the target of a repugnant racist attack from an intoxicated woman she was attempting to aid. As the woman’s aggression escalated, she lashed out, scratching Asha’s arm.
The traumatic shift took a significant toll on Asha, who subsequently began experiencing horrifying panic attacks and flashbacks, leading her to seek solace in alcohol, reports the Daily Star.
Visibly distressed, Asha lost control and shouted at Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) in Speed Daal for quarrelling with another customer.
Sienna tried to soothe the situation but later expressed concern over Asha’s behaviour, warning her that any repeat would necessitate reporting, leaving Asha devastated.
However, amidst the ongoing drama, fans were taken aback upon realising where they had previously seen the actress playing Sienna.
On a Corrie Facebook fan group, one member pondered: “What else has Sienna been in? I recognise her face.” Another added their thoughts: “She was in This England 88.” A third person confirmed: “Knew I recognised her!”.
Charlotte Tyree portrayed Fay in the 2011 Channel 4 mini-series This Is England ’88, penned by Shane Meadows. Her character served as Shaun’s (played by Thomas Turgoose) love interest and she shared the screen with acclaimed actors such as Vicky McClure and Stephen Graham.
Beyond her roles in This Is England ’88 and Coronation Street, Charlotte has graced our screens in ITV’s The Long Shadow and the sitcom Still Open All Hours.
