Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has confirmed her return to the soap
A former Coronation Street resident is set to return to the cobbles but there’s a surprising development on the horizon.
Brooke Vincent rose to prominence portraying the younger daughter of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor), Sophie, first appearing on screens back in 2004.
Alongside elder sister Rosie (Helen Flanagan), it’s safe to say the pair swiftly became beloved by audiences and featured in numerous major plot lines.
From grappling with her sexual identity to the devastating loss of Maddie (Amy James-Kelly), her stint on the Street was packed with compelling drama. Nevertheless, Sophie bid farewell to the famous cobbles in 2019.
Viewers will remember that Sophie chose to depart Weatherfield for a round-the-world adventure after inheriting funds from her Aunty Vi. Her final scenes showed her climbing into a black cab after emotional farewells to her family, reports the Daily Star.
Since her exit, the character hasn’t appeared on screen – though she’s been referenced on multiple occasions. Just last week, Kevin jetted off on a break following his cancer ordeal to spend time with Sophie.
More recently, actress Sophie posed for a photograph with an admirer and appeared to be close to the Corrie studios in Salford, Manchester.
On a Coronation Street Facebook enthusiast group, one supporter shared the image and mentioned it was “great to catch up with” the Sophie Webster actress Brooke.
The upload instantly triggered rumours among devotees that Brooke had returned to film new episodes. One enthusiast pondered: “Is Brooke coming back to Corrie?” whilst another questioned: “Is Sophie coming back to Corrie.”
However, the user who posted the photo clarified: “Doing podcast with Emmerdale’s Danny Miller,” seemingly referring to the soap podcast, Off Script… Coronation Street and Emmerdale, hosted by Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher who portrayed Andy Sugden.
On the podcast, Kelvin engages in conversation with soap stars from both Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Previous guests include Danny Miller, Sam Aston, Nicola Wheeler and Vicky Myers.
