The singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared the news on Aug. 26 in a joint Instagram post that read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The dreamy photos showed Kelce down on one knee in a rose-covered garden, Swift glowing in a striped Ralph Lauren dress, and, of course, a close-up of her old mine brilliant cut diamond from Artifex Fine Jewelry.

But while the ring immediately drew our attention, Swift’s nails had their own moment. The singer opted for the trending “naked nails”: short, natural nails with a glossy finish that let the diamond take center stage. Paired with her signature winged liner, orange-blush lipstick, and sleek blond fringe, the minimalist mani tied her entire engagement look together with understated elegance.

“‘Naked nails’ are the manicure equivalent of the no-makeup makeup look,” Tenoverten cofounder Nadine Abramcyk says. The look can be as simple as bare nails with a clear topcoat or a sheer wash of pink or beige to enhance your natural nail bed. It’s already a celebrity staple on red carpets and now, in engagement photos.

Swift and Kelce, both 35, have been dating for two years, though fans first spotted sparks back in 2023. Kelce famously revealed on his New Heights podcast that he’d tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number during her Kansas City Eras Tour stop. The moment didn’t pan out, but it got her attention. By that fall, Swift was cheering him on at a Chiefs game with his mom, Donna, and the rest is history. From Super Bowl wins to Eras Tour cameos, the couple quickly became one of pop culture’s favorite pairings.
