Police were called to Victoria Place apartments on Wellwood Street following a call to support colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

Trae Keenan, from Newcastle, Co Down was taken to hospital and, tragically, was later pronounced dead.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended an address in the Wellwood Street area of Belfast city centre on Sunday morning, in support of colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

“A man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital, and later died.

“Enquiries are ongoing and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”

Funeral details have yet to be confirmed but the family have requested donations in lieu of flowers to be directed to The Emergency Services c/o Cunningham Bros 53 Main Street, Castlewellan.
