Man charged with dangerous and drunk driving after three children injured in West Belfast

A man is due to appear in court charged with dangerous and drunk driving following a hit and run collision in West Belfast that left three children hospitalised.

A 37-year-old man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 26, after being charged with multiple offences following the incident which took place at Black Ridge View on Sunday, August 24.

It was reported that three children, two girls and a boy, were taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle while they were playing on the pavement.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “A 37-year-old man has been charged with driving with excess alcohol in breath, causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop where accident occurred causing injury, failing to remain where accident occurred causing injury and failing to report an accident whereby injury was caused.

“He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Tuesday August 26. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
