38-year-old due in court in morning
PSNI officers investigating a petrol bomb attack on an Armagh bar have charged a man.
The move comes after the incident which was caught on CCTV when it happened on Monday night. A video clip from the CCTV footage was widely circulated on social media.
In a brief statement issued on Tuesday night, the police said detectives “investigating a report of a petrol bomb being thrown into a bar on Irish Street in Armagh on Monday evening, 18th August, have charged a man to court”.
They added: “The man, aged 38, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, arson with intent to endanger life, possession of a blade or point, and three counts of criminal damage.
“He is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 20th August. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.”
In a statement on Facebook, The Toby Jug pub said they were “shocked and saddened” by the attack.
