Derry Girl’s star Saoirse-Monica Jackson tied the knot in a three day ceremony last weekend.

The lavish wedding took place just outside of Kenmare in Co Kerry, where the actress married husband DJ Hector Barbour, known professionally as Denis Sulta.

The Derry Girls actress told Vogue : “We wanted both of our cultures and our families and friends to be at the centre of it.”

The custom dress was by Annie Doble of Annie’s Ibiza, which Saoirse described as ‘Celtic warrior princess.’

The gown featured a corseted bodice with puffed sleeves and an asymmetric skirt with a dipped hem at the back.

It was also important to Saoirse to nod to both her and Hector’s mothers’ wedding dresses, adding Celtic brooches inspired by her mum, and making the corset reversible with tartan on the inside inspired by her mother-in-law’s gown, reports RSVP.

The dress transformed for the evening, with the skirt shortening and the tartan corset revealed.

Irish designer Eily O’Connell created Saoirse’s bespoke emerald jewellery. It matched the bridesmaids’ green Rat & Boa dresses.

Speaking about choosing an Irish venue, Saoirse told that the only thing they were worried about was the weather, as they wanted an outdoor ceremony.

She joked: “Once we’d decided to do it at home, we started praying to our grannies, aunties, the saints and Sinéad O’Connor for nice weather.”

The next day, the couple organised a breakfast BBQ to continue the wedding celebrations.

“We were in bed at 4.30am, but some were out until 7am, so there were a few sore heads the next day”, she told Vogue.

“We’d organised a breakfast BBQ and mimosas, and we had an Irish storyteller set up in the Pavilion tent, Then we had buses pick everyone up and take them to a pub down the road, before we headed back and kept partying at the bar!”
