Coronation Street fans have ‘figured out’ the new proprietor of kebab shop Prima Doner, and it’s a returning soap legend.

The iconic business has been a mainstay on the soap since 2008, having been established by Jerry Morton (Michael Starke). The legendary Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) then purchased the establishment.

Over time, several familiar faces have taken up employment there, including Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), and Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

At present, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) serves as an assistant, with Dev’s wife Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) also lending a hand.

However, Dev has recently faced severe financial difficulties after his son Aadi (Adam Hussain) plunged the corner shop business into significant debt while Dev was in India earlier this year, reports the Daily Star.

As a result, Aadi staged a fake robbery as part of an insurance scam to clear the debts, but this plan backfired when the insurance company refused to pay out due to a missed previous payment.

Dev eventually discovered the truth, leaving him furious. And in Wednesday’s episode (13 August), Dev disclosed that he was considering selling his other business, a chip shop, due to his financial woes.

But now, with things looking bleak for Dev, fans speculate that he’ll be compelled to sell the kebab shop Prima Doner as well – and viewers ‘know’ precisely who will become its new owner.

“Dev’s losing his empire,” commented one individual on a Corrie Facebook fan page. Another person suggested that Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) could take over the kebab shop, following the announcement of her return.

They speculated: “I think Eva will come back loaded with cash and buy the Rovers and Prima Doner!” A third added: “I would love this!” Echoing their sentiments, another penned: “Yeah maybe her new boyfriend is minted.”

Eva’s comeback to Coronation Street was revealed last month – and she’s not coming alone. Joining Eva are her partner Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and his meddlesome mother Maggie (Pauline McLynn).

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
