New episodes will be produced entirely in Northern Ireland – and they need people to fill roles
One of Northern Ireland’s most celebrated animation studios is on the lookout for local talent to join its latest project, a major new series made in partnership with the BBC.
ALT Animation, the award-winning Belfast-based studio, is about to begin production on Captain Onion’s Buoyant Academy for Wayward Youth, a 50-episode mini animated series co-developed with BBC Children’s & Education.
The 11-minute episodes will be produced entirely in Northern Ireland, and the studio is now recruiting across multiple creative departments. Roles available include:
- Art Director
- Background Lead
- Key Background Artist
- Concept Environment Designer
- Concept Character Designer
- Background Artists
- Animatic Editor
ALT Animation has a track record of producing award-winning, internationally recognised work and says it is committed to building a culturally and socially diverse workforce. The company welcomes applications from people from groups underrepresented in the film and TV industry.
The deadline for all applications is August 22, 2025.
