A brand new season of Love Is Blind UK is back tomorrow with brand new singles all hoping to find their perfect match.
The dating show was a huge success with season one having been nominated for a BAFTA, and now, husband and wife duo Matt and Emma Willis will be returning to screens for a brand new season. But there is of course a huge twist.
The singletons will be ‘dating’ in their own secluded pods, unable to look at one another. Despite not knowing what their future spouse will look like, it is only once they are engaged that they’ll meet face to face before living together to plan their wedding, and meet the other couples.
This year’s line up brings a whole host of new eager hopefuls, including a professional singer as well as a Monica from Friends lookalike. One cast member who is ready for love is Northern Ireland based Billy.
Who is Billy Jervis Jr?
Billy, who is 35 from Bangor in Northern Ireland, is an Army Physical Trainer. He has been single since his divorce five years ago and finds the modern day dating world a “complete minefield”.
On his Love Is Blind experience, Netflix teases: “He often feels like the third wheel as most of his friends are settled down and as a result, doesn’t socialise as much as he used to. Divorce hasn’t put Billy off marriage and he’s keen to be a husband again and start a family with his life partner.”
According to his Instagram, Billy is an instructor for the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, which is responsible for developing and maintaining physical fitness across the Army, making sure teams are well prepared for military tasks.
Army career
Billy often shares his life journey on his Instagram page and of course he is in great physical shape thanks to his career, regularly posting his workout routines. One example is the Murph workout, where Billy said he became “emotional” completing it for the first time, adding: “Especially doing it on a baking running track in 25 degrees heat.”
The Murph workout consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and then another 1-mile run,
In some posts he also showcases highlights from his army training. Sharing a handful of photographs in one post, he wrote: “Thank you Matty for an epic hand over take over week with the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.”
According to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, Billy’s job would include “a range of activities”, including physical training, exercise rehabilitation, adventurous training and sports coaching and officiating.
The website adds: “Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructors (RAPTCIs) generally serve as detached personnel within most units across the Army. They are tasked by their Commanding Officers with the responsibility of maintaining the physical fitness of their soldiers in preparation for Military Operations.
“This requires a high level of knowledge and experience in order to design and implement a physical training regime which complements the Unit role and training cycle.”
Before this, Billy was part of the Royal Signals, having wrote on Instagram during the Armed Forces Day 2023: “Proud to serve my country with the Royal Signals and now the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. It has made me the man I [am] today.”
King’s Coronation
Back in 2023 during the King’s coronation, the Royal Army Physical Training Corps played a role in the event, marching in the procession.
Billy himself shared a snapshot on Instagram as he wrote: “Red jacket season is back, starting with the RAPTC Kings Coronation.”
Will Billy find love in the new season? You’ll have to wait and see.
