Coronation Street viewers are convinced a legendary character is set to return and wreck Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s big day.

Carla (Alison King) and Lisa (Vicky Myers) initially began their romance last year – much to fans’ joy. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say their journey hasn’t been particularly smooth.

Earlier this year, Carla’s murderous sibling Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) escaped from jail and subsequently held both Carla and Lisa captive.

The traumatic incident led to Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) being wounded by gunfire, reports the Daily Star. Thankfully, Betsy was able to recover fully and Rob found himself returned to custody.

Additional turmoil ensued when police officer Lisa was suspended from active duty whilst battling the aftermath of fellow constable Craig Tinker’s (Colson Smith) tragic death.

On top of this, Lisa remains determined to uncover the reality surrounding her deceased wife Becky’s killing.

Despite all the chaos, lately Carla and Lisa have remained committed to nurturing their bond, growing stronger with each passing day. Last month, the pair, alongside Betsy, relocated to No. 6 on the cobbles, preparing for a fresh start.

Upcoming storylines for this week have revealed that Carla intends to propose marriage. With a possible ceremony on the horizon, supporters cannot shake the feeling that someone from Carla’s history might resurface on her wedding day.

On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “I’m so excited for a Swarla wedding.”

Another fan speculated that Carla’s former husband, Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne), might make a surprise appearance. They penned: “Get Peter back to show on their wedding.” Another concurred: “I’d love this!”.

Carla and Peter have had a tumultuous relationship on the soap, marked by infidelity, deception, addiction, and tragedy. Peter was last seen on Boxing Day 2023 when he bid farewell to the cobbles for a fresh start overseas, after his break up with Carla.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
