As a beauty girl, if there’s one category I know best, it’s hair. Sure, I love makeup, manicures, and massages just as much as the next person, but hair is where I really thrive. I love testing the latest gadgets, I’m always the first to offer to style my friends’ hair, and I view standing in my bathroom while giving myself a blowout as a form of free therapy.
So, when I heard Shark was launching a brand new hair system — the Shark Glam Styling System ($449), I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I wanted to test it out. What did surprise me, however, was how much I liked it. I’ve tested the brand’s hair tools in the past, but there were a few key things about the latest offering that had me excited. Coanda-powered curling barrels, for one, and a “dry mode” that promised the glossiest hair of my life.

Did the Shark Glam Styling System live up to the hype? There’s only one way to find out — keep reading for my full review.
About the Shark Glam Styling System
- This product is a multi-styling hair tool that can be used as a hair dryer, flat iron, curling iron, and hot brush.
- Attachments can be customized based on your specific hair type, but both feature a ceramic and air-powered round brush, a ceramic air straightener, and two 1.25″ coanda auto-wrap curlers.
- The straight/wavy version features a frizz fighting attachment, as well as an air concentrator.
- The coily/curly version features a curl-defining diffuser and a wide-tooth comb.
What I Like About the Shark Glam Styling System
The biggest difference between the new Shark Glam Styling System and the older versions, at least that I noticed, is that the curlers now use the coanda effect, rather than a mechanical imitation. This is what gets the hair to wrap around the barrel automatically, as well as style without extreme heat.
There’s both a wet and dry mode, so once you’re done styling your hair with air, you can switch over to dry mode and give your entire look extra shine with the gloss lock. I’m also a big fan of the frizz-fighting attachment, which I typically use at the end of my blowouts to cut down on any pieces sticking up at the roots of my hair.
The ceramic oval brush is also a big winner for me. The first time I tested this product, I used it after my hair was about 85 percent dry, and it was wildly wavy. The oval brush was great for not only smoothing out my waves into a bouncy blowout but also making my hair look shiny and sleek.
How to Use the Shark Glam Styling System
The brand recommends starting out by rough drying your hair until it’s damp.
From there, once it’s about 70 percent dry, you can start styling using your choice of attachment. Once your hair is completely dry, the brand suggests switching over to dry mode, which allows you to use its gloss lock feature for shiny hair.
I usually opt to skip rough drying my hair and let it air dry until I’m ready to style. Then I go in with the oval ceramic brush attachment to give myself an easy blowout. If I want to add in any extra volume, I usually opt for the barrels to give my hair a little bounce.
What to Consider Before Trying the Shark Glam Styling System
One thing to note about this product is that it’s different from the brand’s FlexStyle and FlexFusion, and the attachments are not interchangeable. So, if you’re looking to just grab barrels that feature the new coanda auto-wrapping, you’ll need to purchase an entirely new system.
Additionally, you will still need to swap out the barrels when curling your hair in order to do both the left and right sides. It’s also worth noting that I found this product to be a bit heavier than others I’ve used in the past.
Is the Shark Glam Styling System Worth the Splurge?
Priced at $449, this hair product is not cheap. However, it is a lot more affordable than other competitors’ offerings. It also replaces the need for any other hot tools, and because temperatures never exceed 302°F, thanks to the brand’s heat sense technology, you can breathe easy knowing that your hair won’t suffer tons of heat damage.
Where the Shark Glam Styling System Is Available
