A former Coronation Street resident could be making a return to Weatherfield, in a major twist for one current resident
Coronation Street might be set to welcome back a familiar face in a significant David Platt storyline twist.
David (Jack P. Shepherd) has remained a cornerstone of the programme for more than three decades, ever since mum Gail (Helen Worth) brought him into the world on-screen back in 1990.
It’s safe to say David has found himself at the centre of numerous major plotlines throughout the years.

From being drugged and sexually attacked to his ongoing ‘battles’ with mum Gail, his stint in Weatherfield has certainly been packed with drama.
This year has been particularly eventful, as March saw him utterly heartbroken when stepson Max Turner (Paddy Bever) was imprisoned for arson, reports the Daily Star.
Viewers will remember that Max had torched the Platt residence in a bungled insurance scheme aimed at protecting his family from criminal Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
He ultimately received a sentence of six and a half years imprisonment, and owing to Harvey’s continued menace, Max was transferred to a Scottish jail, officially marking his departure from Weatherfield.
These moments signalled the conclusion of Paddy’s stint on the ITV programme following his arrival in 2021, when Corrie recast Max’s character – the son of David’s deceased wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane).
However, a fresh fan theory has now suggested Max’s potential comeback. On a Reddit discussion, one viewer pondered: “How long until Max is back from prison, and will he be replaced?”.
Another contributor responded: “He got six and a half years. So if he was to serve half his sentence before being released on licence, then he wouldn’t be back on the Street until around 2028 at the earliest.
“Mind you, I don’t think the terms of his licence would allow him to return to the area where he committed the crime but this is Corrie where they found a way to bring Tracey back so who knows.”
Another viewer wrote: “Lauren has already moved on so no need to bring him back. Although Emmerdale just brought back Robert after seven years inside, so it can happen.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
