One person has been taken to hospital following an early morning crash in Armagh.

Emergency services were called to a report of a road traffic collision in the Monaghan Road area just after 6.30am on Thursday, November 27.

The road was closed in both directions, at the junction with Umgola Heights, following the incident,

The PSNI warned motorists that diversions were in place and advised them to expect delays in the area.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “NIAS received a 999 call at 06:46 on Thursday, November 27 following reports of a road traffic collision in the Monaghan Road area, Armagh.

“NIAS tasked two emergency ambulances to the scene. HEMS also attended by car. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance.”

A PSNI spokesperson added: “The Monaghan Road in Armagh is closed in both directions at the junction with Umgola Heights, following a road traffic collision. Diversions are in place, however, delays can be expected in the area.”
