Controlled explosion carried out after WW2 bomb found in Coleraine

Police attended the incident this morning

Ammunition technical officers have carried out a controlled explosion in Coleraine today after a WW2 bomb was found.

Police attended reports of a suspected bomb being found in the Laurel Hill Road area of the Co Derry town at around 9.45am on Wednesday, November 26.

No homes were evacuated during the incident which was eventually resolved with a controlled explosion.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended a report of a suspected World War Two bomb found in the vicinity of Laurel Hill Road in Coleraine shortly after 9.45am today, Wednesday 26th November.

“Ammunition Technical Officers were tasked, and have carried out a controlled explosion.

“No homes were evacuated during the incident.”
