While on his way to custody, he also assaulted a police officer and caused damage to a police car.
Police have arrested a man following a report of an assault and robbery against two women in north Belfast on Friday, November 21.
Police received a report shortly before 10:30pm yesterday evening that a male had followed two women after they got off the bus in the Kinnaird Street area of the city.
When trying to enter her property, the male approached and assaulted one of the women, before stealing the other victim’s handbag and making off.

He was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of common assault and robbery.
While on his way to custody, the man assaulted a police officer and caused damage to the interior and exterior of the police car. He was further arrested on suspicion of assault on police, possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class C controlled drug and criminal damage.
The PSNI says he remains in custody at this time.
