Conor Benn is looking for his next challenge after beating Chris Eubank Jr
Lewis Crocker was quick to put his name forward to fight Conor Benn after the Londoner’s win over rival Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday night.
The Benns finally got the win they so desperately craved over the Eubanks at the fourth attempt as Conor was called the winner by unanimous decision after producing the best performance of his career. The three judges all scored the bout in his favour: 119-107, 116-110, 118-108.
Benn stated after the bout that it was the end of his rivalry with Eubank Jr as he mentioned a couple of names he would like to fight as he plans to move back down to the 147-pound welterweight division.
He said: “I fancy Mario Barrios for the WBC world title. Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero, Devin Haney… all of them Yanks can get it any day of the week and twice on Sundays.”
IBF world welterweight champion Crocker took to social media to state his claims for a bout with the 29-year-old, writing on his Instagram story: “How tf was my name not even mentioned post fight.
“I’m one of only two uk world champions in the world atm and at that I’m the only welterweight world champion.
“And barrios is being brought up and as a fellow @matchroomboxing fighter I’m not even being spoke about?
“Let’s do this.”
Benn stated that he wants to emulate his father Nigel and win the WBC world title.
“I would say it would be on par with winning a world title, winning (against Eubank Jr). It meant a lot to me,” Benn said.
“For three years of my career, this has been the fight and family feud. It’s generational and never been done in history, so to get the win, it means a lot to me and will forever be cemented in history.
“For me winning the WBC world title is heavy on my heart and heavy on my mind.
“Getting the WBC title, it is the belt my dad won and a belt I would love to win. That’s my dream, so for me to be one up on my dad with the Eubank-Benn rivalry and also win the WBC world title, it would be some moment for me.”
