A man asked social media users what they would do if they were flying and their seatmates were his three cats, and the internet was filled with love for the felines
When you’re flying, the last thing you want is awkward seatmates. You want someone sitting next to you who is going to be polite, kind, and will make the uncomfortableness of being quite squished next to them, on the way to your destination, that little bit more bearable.
Especially if you’re in the middle seat and you’ve drawn the short straw. However, one man posed the question, “What would you do” if you were flying and your fellow passengers were his three delightful cats. “Sponge Cake, Donut, and Buttercream all love chin scratches!” he penned as the caption to the charming video, which left viewers desperately hoping to encounter the trio.
“What would you do if you were stuck with three furbabies on a flight to Paris?” he wrote across the footage, which garnered nearly 20,000 likes.
Subsequently, the camera shifted to Sponge Cake, Donut, and Buttercream, who were all sporting the most endearing French outfits, complete with berets and striped tops.
One of the felines was peering through the window, presumably pondering when their next feeding time would arrive, whilst the following scene showed two of the cats preening each other, courteously remaining in their allocated seats.
Within the comments section, the cats received abundant admiration. One lady commented: “These sweet guys on planes are always so cute. People who get to ride with them are blessed. What fun that would be. I love them”.
Another penned: “They are so beautiful and well-behaved. They need their own private jet”.
“I’d pay extra to sit next to them,” one cat enthusiast confessed, and numerous others presumably share the sentiment.
Someone highlighted that they’re all “dressed beautifully,” with one Instagram user commenting: “That’s the best thing ever! I’d be happy to sit next to them!”.
Different airlines have varying regulations regarding whether you’re permitted to travel with dogs or cats in the cabin.
According to the Flight Centre UK website, cats and dogs are typically the only animals permitted to fly with airlines, whilst most other creatures must be transported or shipped by road.
Generally, they caution that your pet will be positioned in the cargo area beneath the main passenger seating or occasionally at the front or back of the aircraft, depending on the plane type.
Nevertheless, if you own a small pet, you might be able to bring it aboard as hand luggage.
They state: “While there are currently no airlines from the UK that offer this service, it is possible on some flights in the United States and Europe, depending on the airline”.
They also mention that pets are meant to remain in their carrier throughout the journey, but it’s crucial that you consult with a travel advisor beforehand so you can determine the most suitable approach for you and your pets.
