Hundreds of people will be taking to the streets of Belfast City Centre on Sunday!
The Moy Park Belfast City 5K & 1K Fun Run is back this Sunday, 16th November, ready to fill the streets with festive cheer and a wonderful sense of community spirit right in the heart of Belfast!
Starting from the iconic front of Belfast City Hall and finishing on Donegall Place, this much-loved, family-friendly event takes participants on a scenic route through Belfast’s bustling city centre. Along the way, runners, joggers, and walkers alike will experience the magic of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, a touch of its rich history, and the unmistakable buzz of Belfast. All wrapped up in a sparkling Christmas glow.
To add to the fun, seasonal fancy dress is highly encouraged, with fantastic gift card prizes sponsored by Belfast One up for grabs. Organisers are inviting everyone to embrace the Christmas spirit and light up the streets by wearing their most imaginative festive costumes. Think elves, reindeer, grinches, snowmen, Christmas crackers, and of course, plenty of Santas! Whether you choose to buy your costume or create your own masterpiece, your creativity will help make this year’s event even more magical for spectators and participants alike.

The Belfast One team will be stationed at the finish line, keeping a keen eye out for the most eye-catching costumes. Be sure to keep your race number clearly visible, as there will be first, second, and third place prizes to be won, Belfast One Gift Cards worth £150, £100, and £50 to spend in Belfast City Centre.
For everyone planning to dress up, organisers remind participants to ensure that their costumes are suitable for running or walking the 5K or 1K distance and appropriate for the weather conditions on the day. Comfort and safety are key to enjoying the full festive experience.
This year’s designated charity partner, Cancer Focus Northern Ireland, is encouraging everyone to get involved and make a difference. Every step you take will help raise essential funds to support the charity’s life-changing cancer support services across Northern Ireland. It’s a brilliant opportunity to do good while having fun and celebrating the season with the local community.
All registered participants will receive a special festive medal at the finish line to mark their achievement. The event will also be chip-timed, allowing you to track your personal 5K or 1K performance. Perfect for those who want to combine their festive fun with a bit of friendly competition!
And the excitement doesn’t end when you cross the finish line. After the run, participants and supporters are invited to continue the celebrations at Santa’s Workshop at 2 Royal Avenue, where little ones (and big kids alike) can post their letters to Santa, the perfect way to round off a truly magical morning in the city.
Participants, as well as those visiting the City on Sunday, should be cautious of road closures in place. Depending on the area, closures will take place from approximately 8.30am and re-open around 11.00am.
