Body of a man pulled from Upper Bann confirm PSNI

Police have told Belfast Live that a man’s body was recovered from a river this afternoon

A man’s body has been retrieved from the Upper River Bann this afternoon.

The news was announced by police after an approach was made by Belfast Live. PSNI told Belfast Live that the body was recovered from the Upper Bann River, in Portadown, Co Armagh.

The news came after Member of Parliament for Upper Bann, Carla Lockhart said on her Facebook account that: “A significant police and ambulance presence at the Bann Bridge in Portadown. Police are in the very early stages of dealing with a serious incident connected to the river.

“I’ve been liaising with the local police team and would encourage everyone to give them time and space to carry out their work. Please be assured the situation is very much in hand. There will be some disruption for the next number of hours.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected and our emergency services who day and daily deal with difficult situations.”

News of the extensive emergency services operation was reported on X/Twitter by NI Emergency Response Vids.

A spokesman from PSNI told Belfast Live said: “Police can confirm that the body of a man was recovered from the Upper Bann River in the Castle Street area of Portadown this afternoon, Wednesday 12th November. A post-mortem will now take place in due course.”
